The Lizard of Finsbury Gardens

On Sunday October 28th a giant lizard arrived in Finsbury Gardens - its new home. This is the final bit of the Finsbury Gardens Regeneration project which has been run by the Friends of Finsbury Gardens, a sub-group of the Bowes Park Community Association. The whole project has been funded by Community Spaces - The Big Lottery, with much help from Haringey Parks. It was created by chainsaw sculptor Mick Burns, who works in Hackthorn, Lincoln. www.chainsawsculpture.co.uk The lizard was carried into the gardens by ten people with strong arms and strong backs. Thank you to Mick for this wonderful creature, and thank you to the ten who lifted. May the lizard have a long and happy life in Finsbury Gardens, and give pleasure to hundreds of children.
