Here is an odd thing - In Melbourne Avenue the original drain inspection covers are marked - not only with the makers name (W. Simmons) but also with the street name - "Melbourne Avenue, Bowes Park" It's a lovely bit of Edwardian attention to detail - even the most basic and functional of items have been created with a bit of pride in the area they were specifically designed for.
