This photo is in the Bruce Castle Archives. It is a clay oven in the garden of a property in Myddleton Road. What number property? Is the oven still there? Do the owners still use it? Could you take a modern photo of it to upload here?

Hi. From the angle of the photo I'd guess this was possibly at no. 30 Myddleton Road. The windows on the extension of the end house in Chester Road have been updated for some time and the gardens have changed so would doubt that the oven is still there.

I think it might have belonged to Claire and her partner who ran the Stained Glass shop.  They were not only excellent with stained glass they were very good potters.  They ran classes for both from the shop.  I started with pottery and when I and the rest of the class were surrounded by glass we  asked if we could change and learn that instead. We did raku firing of out pottery in the garden. They then opened the Bowes Cafe on the other side of the road (until recently a carpenter worked there) the glass at the top of the windows was made by Claire.
