Rare blue sky showing off the back view of the old building. Quite a civil engineering project going on.

Wow, yes. I was chatting to my drycleaner the other day and he said the police station was being rebuilt on this site, bigger and with many more cells. Is that right? I'd assumed it was being redeveloped into flats.

It will still be a MPS building. It is being converted into a regional custody centre housing something like 200 staff with the capacity for several "temporary visitors" whom the police see fit to hold there!

There was some discussion on the site a while back about the proposals with a link to the planning application and architects drawings.

Forty cells, I believe.

Goodness me, I don't know where I have been hiding but I had not idea, thought it was going to be apartments or something !  I thought they had a huge police station etc, in Edmonton which was like a custody centre.

Does this mean we will get the Fishmongers arms back ?

Sadly Not Geoff (even with its great Musical History)  the Fishmongers Arms front counter will remain as a public face for the Met Police and our Local Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

In the planning application it is stated that the refurbished Wood Green Police Station will be  a "Replacement of existing police station with new custody facility and office accommodation in four storey building for police use, including retention of existing facade of the original building."
