Spotted in Hornsey today. Have BT mis-targeted their advertising or are they trying to lure folk from down there to up here?

I've seen this in Bruce Grove! Thought was a mistake!

I saw one at the Roundway, too -- doesn't inspire confidence in the company does it?

It's weird isn't it I spotted this too in Hornsey.

I think maybe BT have simply used the old Telephone Exchange area name that was adopted in the 1960s for the district covered (see this list - which incidently has some glorious exchange names "TERminus" for King Cross; DILigence for Wembley!) .

Bowes Park was dialing code 209 (the first three characters B-O-W on an alpha/numeric keypad still work the same way on a touch screen mobile!)

Bowes Park Exchange is actually located on Lordship Lane and served the Wood Green area, (still serves the area here is the tech spec!). Perhaps as Woolwich was allocated the W-O-O designation some other local name needed to be found?

Here is a photo of the frontage of the exchange via Dan Warner on FlicKr;
