I found this wonderful photo on Flickr tagged Bowes Park. The lorry on the left has 'Bowes Park' on the door and a telephone number. Richard told me that Bowes Park telephone exchange was on Lordship Lane, Wood Green, and covered a large area but does anyone know where this garage was?

The Wonderloaf factory was based in White Hart Lane, Wood Green side, so it is a safe bet that is where this picture was taken.   My father worked there until 1978 (ish) when the factory closed down to make way for industrial units.   I remember the announcement made the early evening news.

I lived above Central London Bakeries main bakery in Holloway, Islington. Central London Bakeries had a number of shops around North London including one on Bowes Road/N Circular Road. They were eventually taken over by Wonderloaf and I remember those vans waking me up in the morning - as well as the smell of cooking doughnuts in the middle of the night!
