I've walked past Woodside Park umpteen times and never noticed the abandoned bowling green. Does anyone know when it shut down and if there are any plans for it?

Hi Lindsey

Your photo prompted me to dig out an old pamphlet I picked up somewhere - detailing the history of the club to mark their centenary in 2006. I've included a PDF of the pamphlet and a few of my own photos in this post. I have no idea when it closed, I'm sure the clubhouse and grounds could be put to good use as a community space.

Thanks Richard! I've got a personal connection with bowling greens as I spent much of my childhood sitting at the end of rinks or in clubhouses as my parents were both keen bowlers - and still are. Subsequently, I hate the game (yawn) but am fascinated by its characters, traditions and clubs.
