A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
The Media Society has joined forces with the London Learning Consortium to promote a competition to support aspiring citizen journalists across London. The deadline for entries is 22nd May 2017.
The ‘London Voices’ competition is for everyone with something to say - if you live, work or study in London and are over 16, this competition is for you. No previous experience required - it's all about encouraging new talent and getting Londoners to have a go!
In addition to a range of great cash prizes, the competition offers entrants a range of free training and support to help them develop their skills. What we want is to encourage local people to get involved with citizen journalism, so there is a better chance of reporting events and issues in a fair and balanced way.
Entries to the competition can be in a variety of formats including print, video, radio, blog or other online format, or telling a story through photo journalism. There are four broad themes: local communities; what it is like being young in the city; what London might look like in the future; and the benefits or issues that arise from the use of social media.
All entries will be judged by experts from The Media Society and short-listed participants will have their work showcased on the London Voices and Media Society websites as well as being invited to a presentation at the prestigious Media Society Summer Drinks Party in June.
There are three cash prizes. The first prize is £2000, the second £750 and the third £250. This money can be used to help fund journalistic training, support or equipment.
Details of the competition can be found at http://www.londonlc.org.uk/london-voices/
Please have a go! If you have an opinion about London and the world, then this is your chance to express it!
