We had a letter from Thames Water the other day saying they were sending round someone to inspect the drains as they investigate pollution in the area. 

The bloke came round to us in Lascotts yesterday. Apparently, so far, they've found 300 properties in the immediate area not plumbed in correctly, and they're causing sewage seepage into the New River. 

Our landlord got ours right, happily. But apparently some landlords are just refusing to let the inspectors in. 

Another unfortunate effect of converting so many houses into multiple occupancy? Poor old New River. A good excuse to post Richard's lovely photo here.
