Want to walk the entire New River next year?

400 years to the day an intrepid group of London enthusiasts will be celebrating the official opening of The New River at The New River Head in Finsbury and raising a glass to Hugh Myddleton and to all those connected with this incredible feat of early 17th century engineering. To get to the party they will have walked the length of the New River.

Pete and I have been spending a lot of time and mileage lately preparing for a New River Anniversary Walk to take place 28-29 September 2013. It's going to be great.

We're still exploring the route, working out the best stopping points, researching each leg and making contacts along the way but if anyone's interested in joining us for this special walk you can read about it on Pete's blog here and let us know if you want to reserve a spot.

On which, has anyone heard about any other plans to celebrate this huge milestone as yet?

This is just to let people know that there are now 4 tickets left on this walk (it was sold out but some people have dropped out). Research is going well and we are doing a practice run in May. Pete's now been asked by Islington Council to do some New River walks for them and Clissold Park User Group have are also using him for walks and talks so he really will be expert by September!

That reminds me, must get a new sturdy pair of walking shoes.
