This is about my recent experience with JH Landscaping & Improvements Ltd of 312 West Green Road, London N15 3AN, or 59 Great Cambridge Rd, Cheshunt, EN8 8NZ, 020 3600 5191, 07788 678282, Director James O'Driscoll. Not to be confused with any other company of a similar name.

A man calling himself "Pat" from this company gained my confidence by gradually introducing himself over two visits. He falsely claimed to be working for our neighbour at the back, as a reason to come and see from our garden.

He convinced me that our overgrowth was damaging the fence. I signed a £200 contract for tree felling and clearance.

The man, with an assistant, started the work on the following week as arranged, but stopped after just a few minutes of chainsawing.

He said they didn't want to leave the gappy fence exposed with no vegetation covering it, for the sake of privacy. This didn't make sense as he already knew the state of the fence from the previous visit. He supposedly would have already seen it from the neighbour's side as well. Clearance would be needed to access the fence anyway. He also mentioned vermin, but I assured him that had been professionally treated the day before.

He clearly wasn't interested in earning just £200 and wanted a much more lucrative fencing job. It is not even our fence, though he claimed it's a "party" fence.

I declined further work and cancelled the whole job immediately. They left without asking for any money, fortunately.

We later verified that our neighbour has had no contact with this company whatsoever, or any gardener recently.

I would be grateful for suggestions of where else to post this online to warn the public, considering that the company doesn't seem to be signed up to any online tradesman service or have a website (required for TrustPilot).
