AFTERNOON CIRCULAR WALK FROM WELWYN NORTH STATION

Event Description

Length: 6½ - 7 miles
A pleasant walk through woods and across fields in a pretty area of undulating countryside to the NE of Welwyn.  We initially head N through Lockley and Harmergreen woods (passing several air shafts from the railway tunnel below) to just S of Woolmer Green.  We then head E to Datchworth Green before heading SW via Burnham Green to Digswell and Welwyn North Station.  Prospect of drinks en route at the White Horse, Burnham Green and/or at the end at the Cowper Arms just next to the Station

Meeting point and time: New Southgate mainline station – please be ticketed in time to catch the 13:57 train (passes through Alexandra Palace 3 minutes earlier at 13:54). The 221 bus (Turnpike Lane to North Finchley via Bounds Green Road) stops near New Southgate Station (ring the bell though as bus drivers don’t seem to know what a compulsory stop is these days!).
We will hop out at Hatfield (14:18) and board another train at 14:27 which will take us 2 stops to Welwyn North (arrives 14:35).
