Event Description

“Later, Philip Anderson would remember the day as a series of increasingly unlikely occurrences, the first of which was a glimpse of a neighbour’s leg…”

We have a very special evening lined up on Thursday 18th July, 8pm at The Step Above with Muswell Hill-based author, Andrew Byrne.

Andrew will be talking about his self-published debut novel, Some Place South of Perfect. The story is set in London in 2010 and follows the lives of a disparate group of people rubbing up against each other for reasons right and wrong over the course of eight days. It is a wry depiction of interacting lives and examines how thin the margins between safety and danger, success and failure, happiness and misery really are.

Andrew will be reading extracts from Some Place South of Perfect, discussing the story’s origins and sharing his experiences from the world of self-publishing…which he promises is not half as daunting or difficult as most people imagine!

He will also take questions from the audience so whether you want to know more about writing a novel, looking for some useful guidance on publishing your own work or just want to spend an hour so in the company of a talented and humorous man…this evening could well be the night for you.

This is a free event but spaces are limited so booking is essential. Please call us on 020 3302 2412 or email us at info@thestep.co.uk – you can also book a table for dinner before or after the talk.
