Event Description

Saturday 28 January: The New River Path south, led by Catharine Perry (07947 321182)

Meet at Bowes Park station in time to catch the 10.09 to Harringay station (6 minutes) – allow time to buy tickets.

As well as actually going along the New River, the Path takes in Finsbury Park, the East and West Reservoirs in Hackney and Clissold Park (the café is open again so we can stop for a cuppa) before largely going underground through scenic parts of Highbury and Canonbury to Islington and Clerkenwell. It ends at the New River head, a site of national historic importance which has supplied water to London for 399 years. We can continue a little further to Exmouth Market for a bite to eat if wished.

The walk is approximately 4 miles in length. Return by walking to Kings Cross (c 20 minutes) and taking the tube.
