A circular walk of approx. 6 miles mainly along footpaths and bridleways. (Wear footwear suitable for walking on uneven and muddy ground.)
Meet at Bowes Park BR station at c 1.30 to catch the 1.42 Stevenage train to Gordon Hill (journey time approx 10 mins). Buy a return ticket to Gordon Hill or use Oyster cards or passes.
Walk via Lavender Hill Cemetery, Hilly Fields, Whitewebbs Park to Forty Hall - duration approx 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the conditions underfoot and the pace of the group.
Cafe and toilet stop at Forty Hall, with time for a look around the house and gardens www.fortyhallestate.co.uk
Walk back to Gordon Hill via the New River (Old Course) public footpath and Hilly Fields - duration approx 1 hour.
Trains from Gordon Hill to Bowes Park at 28 and 58 minutes past the hour.
Possible drink at The Step, or The Ranelagh, on return
Please note that this walk does not offer many public transport ‘escape options’, however, anyone not wishing to complete this circular walk could leave after visiting Forty Hall and catch a
