Event Description

Following previous exhibitions of art works in the Church sanctuary borrowed from the West Hill Foundation (on Peace and Reconciliation, and Bald Statements) the organisersare planning another called Gethsemane Garments. These are four large cloaks – each with detailed panels representing pain and suffering, but also hope and resurrection – challenging themes to think about during the period of Holy Week and Easter. The Garments have been on display in churches and cathedrals throughout the U.K., often inspiring people to take up the challenge and create a garment that reflects their own situation. We are fortunate to have been allowed to borrow an additional Garment which was worked by the women of Lichfield Cathedral, and which we will display in our exhibition. Just in case we feel inspired, there will be an opportunity to contribute to a ‘Palmers Green’ Garment at the exhibition. This piece of ‘living art’ may not achieve exhibition status anywhere else, but it is a way we can add something of our own. As well as the Garments, there will be some floral arrangements, words and images to help us think about the theme, and some quiet space.

All welcome to visit and view the garments
