Sitarist Mehboob Nadeem and Chinese lutenist (zhongruan & Liuqin) Cheng-Ying Chuang Duo
Acclaimed sitarist/vocalist Mehboob Nadeem and award-winning Chinese lutenist/countertenor Cheng-Ying Chuang will lead audience through a musical journey through the time and space between South Asia to Far East.
Derived from Mesopotamia, instruments of lute family evolved into diverse physical structures and musical expressions under the nourishment of different cultures. Following the legendary pilgrimage of Monk Xuanzang, the Chinese monk who brought authentic Buddhist scriptures into China in 7 A.D., this unique collaboration of duo lutenists/vocalists will showcase their ancient music traditions as soloists, as well as explore each other’s music backgrounds of Chinese classical, Indian classical and Western classical as a duet instrumentalists/vocalists.
