Mark Crooks astounding clarinet and tenor playing has been seen all over the London scene, and is coming to Jazz at Karamel this November. A member of the superb Back to Basie Orchestra and John Wilson Orchsestra, tonight he brings his own brand of jazz accompanied by Colin Oxley on guitar, Mike Gorman on organ and Stu Butterfield on drums. Expect nothing more than a fluent and flowing night packed with lively and original tunes.
“In Mark Crooks, Langton has found a player who can evoke much of that instrumental brilliance, particularly in his effortless negotiation of the altissimo register on Shaw’s set pieces Stardust and Concerto for Clarinet.” – Alyn Shipton
