The Electric Blues Club will be organising music on Sunday afternoons at Broomfield Park in conjunction with Enfield Council.
28th August 2011
1 - 2 p.m Open Mic
2 - 5 p.m Roxi & the Blue Cats Dynamic Blues/Rock/Jazz music will be performing a mixture of covers and original songs from their new album release with support from by folk/pop singer/songwriter Jim Dawson & Lou.
RoXi & the Blue Cats will be performing their own mixture of blues/rock/country/jazz original material from their new album of the same name along with cover songs by some of the great blues artists.
Fronting the band is dynamic vocalist Roxi (winner of the Greenwich Talent Show televised on ITV 6 '0' Clock Show judged by Jools Holland), produced and presented RoXi's New Band Show and Through The Night Show on Town FM, has subsequently appeared on Radio, TV and venues throughout the UK, Europe and the USA as a solo artist and front woman for a variety of covers and original bands including Blulix & Don't Panic. Her powerful, versatile range and emotive, raunchy style has been likened to such artists as Janis Joplin, Etta James and Stevie Nicks. From the gruff growl sliding into mellow sexy tones through to stratospheric notes, Roxi is an energetic and emotive performer who keeps the audience enthralled.
The Blue Cats line up this year includes exquisitely brilliant ex U-Boat bass player Philip Plant (also played on Man Who Fell To Earth film soundtrack and with Red Buddha Theatre), Rick Moxon on rhythm guitar, equisite playing from guitar teacher Martin Ellins on Lead Guitar and joining them on drums is well respected local drummer Brian Johnson who has worked with everyone from Big Bands to major artists.
RoXi & the Blue Cats will be supported by popular local acoustic folk/contemporary singer/songwriter and guitar teacher Jim Dawson and his musical partner Lou on percussion who regularly provide entertainment to audiences at Folk Festivals, venues and for 'Music in Hospitals' and HM Prisons throughout the UK. Visit Roxi or The Blue Cats websites.
These events are supporting the Ruth Winston Centre, a local charity based in Palmers Green who promote independence, well-being and activities for the over 50s.
Oh and we also suggest bringing along something to sit on and a brolly ... just in case the grass is damp and the rain decides to fall!!
