Event Description

Silent film evening at the Ally Pally featuring Buster Keaton in THE GENERAL, a heroic 1926 film starring a  magnificent steam engine. This is a real piece of cinematic history, with Buster Keaton performing his own stunts - hair raising stuff!

Donald Mackenzie of the Odeon Leicester Square follows the film on the Grand Willis Concert Organ in the Great Hall.

The programme also features a tribute to the late concert organist Carlo Curly.

The event is being held by the Alexandra Palace Organ Appeal.

The appeal exists to raise funds towards the ongoing restoration of the Alexandra Palace Organ.

The aim of the current restoration is to return the organ to largely its 1929 state from which the legendary EMI recordings and sound samples date and when it was heralded as "The Finest Concert Organ in Europe".

Underground: Wood Green & W3 Bus and Finsbury Park & W3 Bus.
Nearest Rail: Alexandra Palace Station.
