Hello neighbours!

Has anyone seen the bunting that Enfield Council has put up in Palmers Green High Street?

Personally I am not much of a royalist and would generally complain in a grumpy manner that the money could be better spent on our cash-strapped schools and public services.

However, even I would grudgingly accept, that this particular year with a Diamond Jubilee, a European Football tournament and the once-in-a-lifetime presence in the capital of the Olympics we should make a bit of a splash and brighten up our public spaces. So I was disappointed to see the lame attempt at decoration in Palmers Green. The cheap plastic flags and bunting are already fading and ripped - a couple more months in the wind, sun (and inevitably rain!) and they are going to be a sad reflection of the austerity Olympics.

Of course it could just be a subtle guerrilla street-art comment on the whole summer of celebrations like the now famous Wood Green Banksy!
