Barrowell Green Recycling Centre: Scheme for Vans: Have you applied for your permit?

Barrowell Green Recycling Centre in Barrowell Green N21 is licensed for the disposal of Household waste. Over the years of operation, various changes have been made items that can be recycled and the normal access conditions in terms of type of residents' vehicle and/or trailers that can be admitted since the disposal of business waste is in breach of the licence. Barrowell Green vehicle permit scheme

From 31 March 2015, residents will be able to use their commercial vehicles to dispose of domestic waste at Barrowell Green Recycling Centre if they have a valid permit.

Residents can apply for permits from the 1 January - 16 February 2015.

What vehicles need a permit?

  • Vans (of any size)
  • Pickup trucks
  • Minibuses (over 7 seats)
  • Unlicensed taxicabs
  • Trailers (with more than one axle and/or over 6ft in length)
  • Ambulances (unless in an emergency)

The following vehicles do not need a permit. If any of these vehicles do not fit under the height barrier, they can gain access through the central gate.

  • Cars
  • People carriers (up to 7 seats)
  • 4 x 4s (not pickups)
  • Licensed taxicabs (up to 7 seats)
  • Adapted disability vehicles
  • Trailers (with a single axle and under 6ft in length)

How do I apply?

Residents can apply online. You will need the following information to complete your application:

  • Vehicle registration
  • Vehicle make, model and colour
  • Name and address of the registered keeper

If you are applying to use a trailer, you will need the following information to complete your application:

  • Make, model and colour of vehicle trailer will be attached to
  • Vehicle registration
  • Name and address of the registered keeper
  • Length of trailer (in metres)
  • Number of axles

When do I apply?

Voucher Holders are entitled to 6 Vouchers to use within the calendar year 31 st March to 31 st March if applied for before 16 th February 2015. If vouchers are applied for on or after 16th February, the Voucher Holder will only receive 3 Vouchers. However the full entitlement can then be applied for the next calendar year

What do I do when I run out of permits?

Residents will be issued with six permits a year. If you run out of permits, you will need to wait until the next financial year to apply again.

Residents will be asked to present a valid permit to a member of staff when they arrive at the site entrance in a commercial type vehicle. If you do not have a valid permit, you may be refused entry to the site.
