Bowes Park Community Association(BPCA) is a registered charity and acts as an umbrella organisation to many of our local groups such as the gardening groups and the walking group. BPCA has been involved in developing many community initiatives and has helped to build our strong community networks. It needs some new faces!

At the AGM on Wednesday 19th September at 7.30 at St-Michael-at-Bowes Church Hall (The church is on the corner of Whittington Road and Palmerston Road )we will elect the new committee for 2012/13. Some members want to take a well deserved rest. Please consider being a committee member. It is not too demanding. The committee meets every two months and members do take a lead on some issues e.g. organising the newsletter, communications, liaising with safer neighbourhoods..........

If you could spare some time to help to keep this important group working to benefit our neighbourhood then contact Dee ,currently the chair, for a chat  on 07779626177or simply come to the AGM.

More information from Bowes Park Community Association on getting involved:

The BPCA relies on two things to operate and that is funding including membership (if you haven't become a member then please do, you can join onlinewww.bowespark.org.uk ) and the time and enthusiasm of the people on the committee and other non-committee members who makes things happen.

We are always looking for people to help, whether it is in a regular way or just to help with a specific skills or time on an as-and-when basis. Please let us know if you can help with time or a specific skill by replying to this email and if possible coming to see us at the AGM.

There are also currently specific roles within the committee that we would like to have a representative for and these are:

Community Safety Rep - going to the Safer Neighbourhood team meetings every couple of months, reporting back what the issues are locally, putting forward concerns of local residents to this team to focus on and being a point of reference for anyone in Bowes Park to get in touch with via email.

Environmental Rep - Adam Paul and Mary Blake as you may know spearhead work in Bowes Park on Sustainability and helping the residents save money by being more environmentally aware but it would be good to have someone who could liase with the council when they become aware of issues in the area with fly tipping and perhaps roads with issues around dog fouling. It is not the most glamorous of things but compared to how Bowes Park was twelve years ago there has been huge progress in making sure rubbish is removed and other environmental issues but things can quickly get worse. It would be good for this person to want to lead a group of volunteers monthly to make sure the New River stays rubbish free and is a nice place to be.

These roles do not have to be particularly time consuming but having one point of contact and someone representing the community for these issues is very important.
