This week some workmen have been digging a trench in in Finsbury Gardens (pictured right).

We recently featured a discussion about the Muswell Stream it looks like the culvert carrying the hidden stream is in need of some repair

Caroline Simpson has investigated  what has been happening:

Men are working to replace the pipe which carries what what we understand is the Muswell Stream.

The plan below comes from the Thames Water Archives and shows the various water-ways below this end of the Gardens.

The map showing the many water-ways in the larger area comes from Haringey’s Hidden Streams Revealed, Hornsey Historical Society, 2005. The Blue dotted line is the New River, and here is where it crosses the Muswell Stream.
