Since the flurry of comments some months ago the problem of posters has died down. But someone is at it again! A number of perfectly OK local information posters have been taken down from the OK sites in the last few days. So perhaps it is time for a re-cap.

It is illegal to Flypost – put up posters on lampposts and trees etc.  Some local people object so much to any such poster that they rip them down – no matter what they are for.  We now have some notice boards where you can put up your posters.

There is an open board by the Community Garden where you should use selotape (no pins please), and one by the Gym where you can use pins or blutack.  Laminate your poster or it will be ruined by rain and hungry snails.  All posters should be removed after the event, and in the case of commercial ads, after 4 weeks to give others a chance.

If it is a non-commercial, community event it can be advertised in the new closed board on the bridge to the station - send a file for printing to the BPCA - ditto for the closed boards in Finsbury Gardens and the Hidden River Path.

The Samaritans gave permission for a notice board on their fencing by the Tin Tabernacle – but no-one has yet made the board.  If there is a handy-person out there with a bit of spare wood and time..... then there could be another open, community board on that side of the bridge.

The problem with any posters on lamposts etc is it encourages/legitimises others to do the same thing.

Everyone - please use the noticeboards, not lamposts etc - whatever event etc you're advertising.
