Myddleton Road, in the heart of Bowes Park, has today been named as one of the country’s best high streets by being shortlisted in the third annual Great British High Street competition.

The competition celebrates the work that is being done to revive, adapt and diversify the nation’s high streets. Myddleton Road has been transformed in recent years with the arrival of committed new businesses and from local residents keen to supporting the resurgence of this much loved centre. Activities have included including regular street markets and Summer/Winter Festivals, organizing ‘cash-mobs’ to spend money on the street, and holding a photography competition – broadcast live on Twitter – to celebrate the character of Myddleton Road.

This year’s competition saw a record 900 entries across 14 categories. Now the shortlist has been drawn up, the public has the chance to vote directly for their best-loved high street online - so get voting and show that "We Love Myddleton Road"

To be crowned champion, Myddleton Road needs the votes of local people. Between now and November, people can cast their vote via the website at: thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk You can vote once a day - up until the closing date

If Myddleton Road wins, not only will the street get a share of prize pot worth £100,000, but will also benefit from expert training from Google’s digital taskforce for shops, bars and restaurants and a trip to Twitter UK’s London office to further boost their social media skills.

Well done everyone who has worked so hard over 15 years plus to make this street better.  Vote now and keep on voting!

Myddleton Road is currently in first place in the London category of voting. Please keep voting every day to keep it there.

The judges visited the street today. We have no idea how it went - but they told us we covered everything they wanted to hear. One of the things they did say was that we had some great practice in what we did here in supporting the street and better than some commercial enterprises! A great compliment to everyone's hard work...

So now we just need to keep voting and keep our fingers crossed!
