As some of you may be aware from another discussion on this forum, my husband and I are preparing to open a business on Myddleton Road in Bowes Park and we’d really like to hear what you think. We want to find out more about the people who live here, the people who visit and what you would like for the area.

Our plan is to open a cafe and bar, with produce sourced from local suppliers, and a shop featuring affordable handmade work from local designer-makers. We will also hold lots of events for the community and to encourage visitors to the area.

It would really help us if you could take five minutes to fill in our survey which will give us vital information about what people want from a local business. The survey is anonymous and we'd also appreciate it if you could send it onto your family, friends and neighbours who live or work in the area.

Please CLICK HERE to fill in our survey.

Many thanks

Nell & Mat

Hurrah! We'll probably be tapping everyone we know and more for help so you might regret that offer! Thanks loads. Nell x

Hi Nell - done it! Very excited about it - let me know if there's anything Al & I can do, other than being future customers! Kate x

Nell just to let you know that Sue (textiles) and Eileen (art) are coming from Nightingale in addition to Peta (jewellery) and myself (crochet and sewing)!! So Nightingale crafties will  be there in force!

See you later, Nicki

I wasn't able to get to the meeting on the 31st, but would be interested to hear of anything decided. I'm an artist, (oil-painter) living in Queens Road.

Any feedback on the meeting? I'd also be interested to hear.

Hi Dave and Kari

We had a fantastic turn out of over 20 people, which we were really pleased about. We presented to the group just to give a bit of background about who we are, what our plans are and how local people can get involved. There were some great suggestions of events we could hold, the sort of food people would like, products we could sell, local makers / artists, and general positivity and support. It was really inspiring.

We're looking to open in early October, but the major stumbling block at the moment is finding a property that is suitable in terms of size, use and location. Our main options are number 128 which closes in June, but I'm not sure the owners really want to change the use of the property to A3, and number 90 which is proving impossible to gain access to.

I'm sure we'll get there though. We're very determined and with such fantastic community backing we'll make it happen, hopefully sooner rather than later!

We'll let you know as soon as we manage to progress things. Do let us know if you have any ideas or spot any developments on Myddleton Road.

Thanks loads

Nell

Dear Nell and Mat, I've been away and just saw the information about your cafe - what a great idea! I've completed your survey -hope it it is still useful. Good luck! Theresa

Thanks so much Theresa. The survey is still live and any new responses are still very useful.

In other news - we're trying to get extra prepared and obviously want to keep startup costs to a minimum. So we were wondering if anyone knows of a good local solicitor who specialises in commercial properties? We do have a solicitor but we were hoping that someone local could give us reduced 'mates' rates for getting a community project off the ground.

If anyone can suggest someone we'd really appreciate it.

Many thanks

Nell

Wondering if there's any news about this project?
