Stephen Middleton of the Friends of Alexandra Park https://sites.google.com/a/dreamcountry.org/jennyap3/home put me on to this delightful clip of the switchback in Alexandra Palace in 1898:

First saw this at Hornsey Historical Society AGM. It has been around for ages, but previously not identified as Alexandra Park. The Tudor style building in the background is the giveaway. It is the Blandford Hall/Banqueting Hall/Tudor Hall which predated the Palace and burnt down (I think) in 1970.

FYI Rachel McDonald also presented a home movie showing the old miniature railway in action around the Boating Lake just before it closed down. (Don't think that is around on the Interweb.)

Filmed by local film maker Robert W Paul.  - I think the Hall burnt down in 1971 not 1970. https://www.flickr.com/photos/frpix/sets/72157622023103015/
