Thanks Adam

It's great to see onetwoeight being so well used. I think the variety and regularity of sessions are really impressve as events are run almost exclusively by volunteers.

One group we don't seem to do much for is children - I'm thinking of primary school age, under 11s. How about an after-school activity club for an hour or so once a week? I think it would be great if kids could have some sort of creative or artistic activity - something that often gets less attention in the top end of Primary school. It would need someone with the right skills and CRB checks etc to lead it - but they could then call on other local people to volunteer their input for particular sessions - drawing, drama, digital photography, sewing ... I am sure we have lots of skills we could pass on to our younger neighbours and the commitment could be as simple as a session once a term.

Another thing I would be keen to see happening is a skill sharing session around using computers: basic e-mail, internet-searching Facebook or YouTube - as well as using the internet to shop online, contact your MP or book a holiday. Perhaps in time we might establish a Social Media Surgery where a few volunteers work one-to-one with people interested in getting to grips with connecting online. I have been involved in a couple of these before - they can be great fun and very useful for those who attend.

Thanks

Dear All,

Just a quick update that I will be at 128 Myddleton Road during the following times over the forthcoming weeks:

Tuesday 25th January (9am to 11am / 4pm to 6pm)

Tuesday 1st February (9am to 11am / 4pm to 6pm)

Tuesday 8th February (9am to 11am / 4pm to 6pm)

Saturday 12th February (11am to 1pm)

Everyone is welcome to drop-in for a chat and a cuppa!  I would be very interested to hear about your thoughts for future activities and sessions at OneTwoEight and would be especially interested to meet individuals who might be interested in volunteering to deliver new activities in 2011 and discuss how we can support you in doing so.

Kind regards,

Adam Paul
