A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Closed I see.
Rumour is it's going to be....another estate agents! (Foxtons or Hobarts I heard)
That's just what the area needs. A real asset to the community.
I don't know about you but I'm always popping out in need of a teenager with a Burtons suit, wet-look hair gel, and a pair of pointy shoes to sell me an overpriced flat above a shop or on the north circular.

It has been closed for some months now. Sad, but as most of their business was to the trade, they did not need a 'shop'.
I think you are wrong. A good, reliable, genuine estate agent is JUST what the road needs. And Hobarts (if they do indeed open there) will make the building look better, and be a positive influence on that 'dodgy' corner where all sorts of deals go on. They should be welcomed and not scorned.
There are 5 estate agents already in Myddleton road. What value do they bring to the community?
I miss Papercraft too - a reliable place for party supplies, as well as kids party bags and xmas stocking gifts, but like a lot of retail businesses they are competing with online outfits with greater reach and smaller overheads.
Having said that a genuine local estate agent on the street - rather than the dodgy "property consultants" - is far beter than another empty shop. Hobarts have been very community minded - even without a presence in the area - by sponsoring the Community Association newsletter and they have been instrumental in supporting community festivals and activities around their base at Alexandra Park. A local business that cares about the area in which they trade would be very welcome. I dont think it is fair ... or correct ... to simply criticise an entire group of people. Blind prejudice is rarely the corect response.
This is definitely going to be a Hobarts estate agents. The premises are currently being worked on.
Two estate agents in Palmers Green, Winkworth and Bennett Walden, both Directed by local family men have enabled us to do so much for the community that I doubt would have happened otherwise, so do treat as you find. Unquestioned financial support to Proms, Broomfield Blues, Palmers Green Festival, Talkies and now Palmers Scream. Naturally competitive on the same patch they even went as far as to co-finance the 1000 free spooky story books for local kids. That’s the sort of business you want in any area.
(Near 200 entries for the kids own spooky creative writing competition. Winners to be announced soon and ideally performed during Scream at Halloween - that's Halloween with the Treats but without the Tricks, light rather than dark, 5:30 -7 on Saturday 31st)
