I live on a road that is much used by dog walkers, and I got sick of the poos on the small piece of 'earth' under a tree outside my house.  People in other parts of London have started to plant in these small pavement places, so at the end of April I started my experiment.  I couldn't find quite the right type of low daisy-like plant that likes poor quality dry soil, and so I got a few white and purple alyssum.  They didn't like the dry weather that we had (yes we did) for a few weeks and needed to be watered, but since then they have thrived.

What is amazing is that there has not been one dog poo there since I planted them, and very little rubbish and fag ends.  Amazing!

So, may I suggest that if you have a tree outside which has a bit of 'earth' underneath, and you are also sick of dog poos, you could plant it next year.

If anyone knows of better plants, and perennial ones would be far better, please do tell us.
