It is that wonderful time of year when apple, plum and pear trees have more fruit than you can eat.  If you have fruit trees in your garden, please do not let it go to waste or just compost it.

Pop any surplus fruit in a box on the pavement or the wall outside your house with a note to people to take what they wish.  If you have any clean plastic bags you could pop a few of them in the box also to make it easier for people to take some fruit home.  Lots of blackberries for the picking, and it is going to be a great year for grapes too.
