It’s really good to read posts from people who love and value Bowes Park and its many activities – street markets, picnic and festivals, clubs and groups, We Love Myddleton Road initiatives.

At the heart of all these groups is the Bowes Park Community Association, started in 1999 by a few people worried by traffic problems, the unsafety of the station and the derelict state of Myddleton Road - if you think it’s bad now, you ain’t seen nuttin’. Over the years the Association has brought you the Community Garden, the open air gym, re-vamped Finsbury Gardens, social events, the new shop fronts in Myddleton Road (that took four years), a safer station, and more.

Along with such major projects, the BCPA Committee handles all the unglamorous stuff like contact with the councils and commenting on planning applications (we have averted some truly hideous buildings), and also supports the various groups. We provide insurance for them, and have become a charitable company limited by guarantee (a huge piece of work, nightmare forms to fill out), so that we can receive charitable grants. We dream of the day when we can pay all our running costs from subs and donations, but -

      - there is a bit of a problem.

While new people join each year, quite a lot of existing members never get round to renewing their subs. If this describes you, please follow this link to renew by paying online or by cheque, or setting up a standing order. If you would like to join for the first time, welcome! and please follow the link. Or come and see us at the Myddleton Road Market and Festival on Sunday 28th. We’ll be in the Community Garden from 2-5pm.

Money helps, but we also need practical help (could anyone design a display table and stand that doesn’t blow over in a breeze?). We could also do with some new committee members, as there are too few of us at present to respond to all the opportunities. If you would like to find out more, email the Committee Secretary.

Thanks Catherine - to you and the rest of the BPCA for all that you do. I've renewed our household sub.

Bless you kindly, guv!

I am not practical sadly (I'm a Salsa teacher) but I hugely value what the BPCA offers our local community.
I am currently in the process of setting up the Bounds Green Business Association with the aim of boosting local businesses as well as serving the local community.
With that in mind, why don't we join forces to do a fundraiser for the BPCA? It could take place in the Bowles and Tennis club and local businesses could offer their services for free while promoting themselves and people could come along and pay a donation to BPCA to take part! Locally we have people to offer Salsa, Yoga, Pilates, Art classes, live music, Cakes and tasty treats, Nail art, face painters, children's classes and entertainment, etc etc so we could get a timetable together and it could be a fun-filled day for all the family! Salsa With Sureka regularly holds charity fundraisers so I'd be happy to help. X

Done! sorry my renewal was a bit late.

BPCA location at Market/Festival tomorrow - we will be near The Step, not in the Garden. Hope to meet lots of you there!
