Hi,

We are making a few updates to the look of the site to give it a bit of a refresh. Please let us know if you have any constructive criticism!

I don't know if both or either of these points below are connected to the refresh, but sadly the site isn't working that well for me now.

1. The site, and individual topics, take much much longer to load fully than before.

2. Sadly I can no longer access any images at all (fliers, pictures of items for sale etc). I have the same (recent) problem on Harringay Online, as do many others. No solution has been found yet.

Hi Alison,

I am starting to have the same issue. It looks like our hosting site - Ning is being flagged as having issues with phishing and because of this images are being blocked.

We will see if we can find a way to sort this out, although it may be tricky!

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

please secure the site and login with a SSL certificate. It is required by law to be https://.
I had to log in in order to let you know but I will pull my account if this is not sorted asap. My private details are at risk to be hacked.

Also it is asking me to agree to the use of the Flash plugin. Flash is a big no in web development and is going the way of the dodo. At the end of 2020, not only will most major web browsers no longer allow Flash, but Adobe itself will stop supporting the multimedia software.

Google declared that Google Chrome would begin to block Flash by default on any page you visit on the web. This declaration is also probably the reason you're here.

Once 2021 hits, you won't be able to run Flash in Chrome at all so updating the site and keeping the Flash plugin doesn't make sense.

best

Hi Chaela,

Yes, good points!

I actually contacted our web hosts, Ning, yesterday about moving to a secure domain, so hopefully that will happen next week.

Regarding Flash, yes, I understand that it is very old technology. I will try to find out where/why it is used on the site and see if we can stop using it.

Cheers,

Daniel
