Thanks for this Juliet - the proposed development has been the subject of a conversation on this forum post on the site. which includes links to the NWLA website, the Barnet website and a community campaign website.

I'm just guessing that as NLWA includes-Camden/Hackney/Islington/Barnet/Haringey/Enfield/Waltham  that the 560 trucks could come from all directions along A406, taking up the small increase in capacity the Telford Road widening provides.

 

I think the A406 is still going to provide and Olympic VIP route between Wembley and Olympic village.  What a lovely sight for the VIPs, if they are not stuck next to a truck they will have the view of a huge incinerator to enjoy.  London at it's best.

You will have to hurry!

The North London Waste Authority pre-application consultation period closes on Friday!

but try finding that from the website front page - it is not obvious!

 

The equivalent Barnet Council consultation period is a lot longer - until next Monday!

You may decide that the document available there is unreadable. It is a copy of the display boards at the exhibition last week. However, printing them on A4 means the text is too small to read. This seems to be worthy of your complaint to them!

The other reason to complain, of course, is the very short consultation period. It ought to be 4 to 6 weeks, with considerable advertising. This is pre-planning application consultation, and your comments will have to be documented in a "Statement of Community Involvement" which applies to all big schemes.

Waiting until the planning application itself appears makes it much harder to challenge any of the assumptions about the need for, or scale of, the development. So seize the moment!

I have been working on this problem over the last week and it is just possible that extra time will be given to the deadline for the planning application.  Various other possible initiatives but won't tempt Fate by mentioning them until they are closer to realisation.

You can try saying to them:

"The very limited time for this pre-application public consultation, with little general advertising and inadequate documentation, is disproportional to the large and complex nature of the project, and clearly leaves you open to judicial review."

 

And coming from you at the Town Hall, it would make them wobble even more.
