A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Thank you to everyone who came out today to see the new market in N11! I hope you had as much fun as we did.
After discussion with the traders and the locals we have decided to make this a weekly market. We want you to think of this market as YOUR local market.
Please spread the word and get your neighbours, friends and family to come along on Saturday from 11-3pm.
If you would like to see anything in particular at the market please share your ideas - we aim to please!
Thanks again for all your kind comments and encouragement and hopefully see more of you next week!

Hi Susie,
Thanks for coming and I will pass on your kind comments to our traders. We are taking all comments, suggestions and feedback on board and will work towards getting more traders. We are also keen to support local businesses and anyone interested in starting up their stall so please share the word!
The school has great potential to play host to a huge number of traders so we are excited about our future!
Thanks again for coming and hope to see you soon

And below is a short introduction to the traders and produce by Market organiser Beulah:
Oh Richard - these are fantastic! Can I share them on the BGM website? Thanks again for supporting this market, we really appreciate all your help.

Feel free to use any of the images or video - on the BG market site.
Thanks
By the way we are looking for local musicians, face painters and anyone creative that can bring a bit of life and entertainment to the market - any suggestions or you can get involved please email us on boundsgreenmarket@hotmail.com
I really shouldn't have clicked on this link (especially with Richard's pictures) just forty five minutes before lunch....and I've only got soup to eat!
Great stuff Beulah, well done on the market and there are loads of musicians in the area (we should know, we employ half of them at The Step!) and I think it is a great idea to put some extra life and soul in to the market and make it a real desitnation!
(Post script....soup staying Bridge for another day and raided piggy bank for trip to Borough Market)
Soup is good! Thanks Mat and yes please get musicians to get in touch. Did you and Nell get my email? Shame we haven't met yet - hope to see you both soon.
Great to see another local event get off the ground. .. visited the market on Saturday and bought some good quality produce.
We did notice that there wasnt much food that was suitable for our two young children though (simple, cheap, non-spicy) ...
I also heard many comments about how nice it would be to have a stand serving hot & cold drinks (preferably with some tables & chairs at which to sit).
I look forward to seeing how it develops!
Hi all,
Thanks for all your feedback and new ideas and we are taking this all into our future planning. The world of markets is a strange one - its difficult trying to convince traders to take part in a new market because they all like to get pitches at established markets with high footfalls. We need to get high quality and a wide variety of stalls to draw in the locals but getting traders is the challenge! Its like a vicious circle! lol
The more locals get behind the market the more traders we can draw in. We have PopUp Cafe starting on the 15th, they will be selling coffees/teas/hot chocolates, cookies and doughnuts. We have montreal pastrami starting on the 22nd. We have a trader selling jewellery, bags and crafts joining us next week and we have had an enquiry from a local painter wanting to sell their art work.
We have The Honest Carrot starting this weekend, selling vegan and vegetarian food. We are hoping that a pies/quiches and tarts trader will join us before the end of the month and we have had enquiries from sushi, korean and rotissiere traders so its looking good and I think the market is going to expand really quickly.
I guess my only plea is please keep visiting and supporting the market. We will make sure to move some of the seating furniture at the school around to create a seating place, or we will bring in chairs and tables to make it more confortable for everyone.
Access to the school may also change this week, so anyone visiting please come through the side entrance (down Park Road - the road where the green pub and the tesco's metro is) to access the market.
Hope to see you all soon - do come over and say hi!
Hi Shona,
As Beulah mentioned, Popup Cafe will be there from Saturday 15th. Monmouth coffees, organic teas real Hot Chocolate (kids love the White/Vanillla) as well as donuts, cookies and soft drinks. Hopefully, Beulah will sort out some tables/chairs by offering the school Keeper some free drinks!
JJ.
