Living Under One Sun (LUOS) began in 2005 in Northumberland Park, one of the most deprived wards in Haringey, when mothers and women of local communities met to cook & share stories of their lives to create a sense of ownership at the local housing estates and adventure playground which was under attack and being vandalised.

From this, and with support from the local council and community workers, LUOS grew to be a base for accessing services, training community leaders & setting up more community projects, all run on the energy of regular volunteers & involving local residents.

LUOS is now a successful multi-award winning organisation running a healthy living and community leadership programme & a community allotment.

Since 2008, LUOS has been registered as a ‘not for profit’ company limited by guarantee with a Board of Directors from the local community. The company’s objective is “ to provide a range of activities to the residents of the London Borough of Haringey, in particular but not by way of limitation, the residents of Tottenham, in order to promote community cohesion, healthy living and contribute to the reduction of crime in the area.”
