Big Lottery Answers Call for Help from Samaritans

September 29th 2016

The Big Lottery has confirmed that it has granted funds to North London Samaritans, which earlier this year was praised for its work by local resident, actor Neil Morrissey.

The Big Lottery has confirmed it has granted funds to North London Samaritans to help complete essential design and preparatory work for the redevelopment of Shaftesbury Hall. The grant, given at the close of stage 2 of a larger 3-stage process, will enable the North London branch of Samaritans to complete its application to the Big Lottery Fund.

The application is asking the Big Lottery to provide £500,000 to redevelop the dilapidated building owned by the charity.

The charity now needs to look to local businesses, trusts and individuals for the remaining money needed to complete the project. If all goes to plan, we aim to start building work in the summer of 2017 and complete it by the end of 2017.

North London Samaritans has already raised over £200,000. Following the Big Lottery Fund development grant and if the final application to the Big Lottery Fund for £500,000 proves successful early next year, the charity still has to raise £80,000.

Local business, community groups and individuals interested in fundraising or sponsorship opportunities for the North London Samaritans £80,000 Shaftesbury Hall appeal should contact North London Samaritans on 020 8368 6789 or by emailing fundraising@northlondonsamaritans.org.uk
