I love cycling and over the last 3 years, I've been working for a terrific social enterprise called Bikeworks, working as a cycling instructor on their All Ability cycling programme. The club encourages children and adults with learning and physical disabilities to ride bikes. They can ride two-wheelers, tricycles, recumbants and hand-cranks, making cycling accessible for all.

The only bike the club no longer has, as it was on loan, is a Wheelchair bike. This means that people in wheelchairs with no ability to use the other bikes have nothing to ride and can't experience the motion of cycling - feeling the wind in their face and the exhilaration of speed. It was a much loved bike and we miss it hugely. With funding being cut, myself and another instructor thought there was only one thing for it -to fundraise for such a bike!

The total cost of the bike is £5000. Yikes! However, we just need to raise £2500 and with a bit of luck Bikeworks will be able to get match funding to pay for the rest. We're so nearly there. Just another £500 to go.

Therefore, if anybody would like to make a donation, even if it's just the price of a cup of tea, that would be splendid and well appreciated.

Here is a video showing what the All Ability Club do:

And here is the fundraising page. Please note, that when making payment, the name Dave Millar comes up. He is a co-founder of Bikeworks, so please be assured that the site is legit.

If anybody is interested in joining the All Ability Club in Hackney as a user or would like to become a volunteer, please call Bikeworks for further information. 0208 983 1221

There is a similar programme a bit closer to home in Finsbury Park called Pedal Power should anyone wish to join them. Both are fantastic!

Thanks everyone, and particularly to Richard McKeever for suggesting to put it on B&B Connected.
