You may have seen that a professional team have taken the roof off Shaftesbury Hall.  This has been done to prevent squatters returning to the site whilst we apply to Big Lottery to refurbish the site.

The contractors were masked and suited when removing the asbestos.  They have informed us that all the asbestos was removed in a day and hoses were sprayed on to the panels.

For the timber cladding the contractors informed us they didn't need to wear suits as there was no hazard.

Many thanks for your support with the project.

Great to our have an update - thanks!

Think it would be good to have something on display on fencing/inside it explaining what you're trying to achieve -real opportunity for promotion & to gain suppprt as the footfall to and from station is so high along there. Need not be anything complicated...

Thanks for the update. Would also be good if The Samaritans could confirm the status of the planning consent and the programme for the lottery application and refurbishment.

Hello

We have planning consent.

The Big Lottery has confirmed it has granted funds to North London Samaritans to help complete essential design and preparatory work for the redevelopment of Shaftesbury Hall. The grant, given at the close of stage 2 of a larger 3-stage process, this work will enable the North London branch of Samaritans to complete its application to the Big Lottery Fund.

The application is asking the Big Lottery to provide £500,000 to redevelop the Hall.

If successful we aim to start building work in the summer of 2017 and complete it by the end of 2017.

Hope that's helpful.

Lucia

Thank you for the idea of a sign. We are working with a company that will donate a sign. Now that we have Big Lottery support we are hoping the local community and other local businesses will support our fundraising for the Hall in whatever way they can as we still need to raise £80,000.

We will post here when the sign is due to go up

Sounds positive. Good luck with the application.
