Jane, a friend of mine with a keen eye for detail, snapped this alarm in the doorway of EBH Electrical at 112 Myddleton Road recently. She told me that SHO is the old telephone code for Shoreditch.
Look, here's another Granley Burglary Alarm with a Bishopsgate code. If you find this stuff interesting, there's a Flickr group collecting photos of old telephone numbers around London here: LON TEL LET
There's another bit of Shoreditch on Nightingale Road - the United Charities of St Leonard, Shoreditch Almshouses. They were relocated from Shoreditch - making way for Shoreditch Town Hall and Police Station - and rebuilt here in the late nineteenth century. The area was popular with institutions at the time, being rural still. Hugh over at Harringay Online has a marvellous picture of the Printers Almshouses and the Fishmongers Almshouses which were built around 1850 down the road at Wood Green.
This website has mostly worked out what all 14 plaques on the buildings say and there's more information about them collected from Tottenham Archives here.
St Leonard's House, Nightingale Road. The letters S.C.T. 1904 stands for Shoreditch Charity Trustees.
Fascinating ... I took a few photos of the various plaques last summer:
