Here is an updated version of the letter that Achilleas, Yasemin and I have just distributed as Bowes Labour councillors in the West Bowes area
Dear resident,
Following the traffic consultation meeting for Warwick Road and the surrounding roads on 16 September at Bowes School, please note that:
1. Enfield Council officers have written their counterparts at Transport for London (TFL) confirming that rat-running has increased on Warwick Road. With the majority of traffic leaving Warwick Road turning right onto the North Circular Road (NCR), one possible solution would be to ban the right hand turn at this junction
This measure would also require a no left turn from York Road onto Brownlow Road, to ensure that the rat-running that we are hopefully displacing from Warwick Road will not affect York Road adversely.
Similarly, Council officers have also requested that TFL revisit its decisions to prevent passengers cars turning right from the North Circular onto Brownlow Road, and from Bounds Green Road onto Telford Road.
2. Enfield Council are officers have written their counterparts at Haringey Council to request that the left turn from Bounds Green Road onto Brownlow Road be permitted again.
3. As your Bowes ward councillors, we have written our elected counterparts both at the London Assembly and at Haringey Council to inform them of the above communications and seek their support.
4. We have asked Enfield Council officers to advance with initial works changing the current speed features on Warwick Road itself.
We will be in touch with you as things progress. Please feel free as well to contact us at any time.
Yours faithfully,
