MCR Pathways is a national mentoring charity supporting young people to achieve their potential. Since it was established in 2007, MCR Pathways has supported over 15 000 young people accross the UK, helping them build confidence, re-engage with education, and move towards a brighter future. This is made possible thanks to the commitment of dedicated volunteer mentors.

This year MCR Pathways is partnering with Haringey Learning Partnership to support students who may be at risk of permanent exclusion and who would benefit from a short-term break from their mainstream school, with the aim of helping them reintegrate successfully. A mentor can be a steady, consistent and encouraging presence during this period of change, making a meaningful difference to a young person’s confidence, motivation and future opportunities. Mentoring is also highly rewarding for volunteers – when one person mentors, two lives are changed.

What mentoring involves:

• Who: Mentors aged 21 or over, from all walks of life
• Commitment: Just one hour a week during school hours, term time, for a minimum of one academic year 
• Training & support: No prior experience needed - just a willingness to listen, learn, and support
• Matching: You’ll be carefully matched with a young person based on shared interests and personality
• Meeting: meetings take place in one of Haringey's secondary schools (you can choose which one is most convenient for you)
