'Street Seen'- exhibition at the Geffrye Musuem about a street in Bounds Green

I would like to invite you to an exhibition that I initiated at the Geffrye musuem.

A Street Seen: the residents of Westbury Road

29 September 2015 – 3 April 2016

at the Geffrye Museum of the Home

A collaboration between photographer Andrew Buurman, myself (Gabriela Schutz), and the residents of  Westbury Road, documents the homes, gardens and people on a typical London street.

My six metre long panoramic drawing shows a row of near-identical Victorian houses on the road I lives on.

The diversity of residents who live there is revealed in Andrew Buurman’s photographs. Taken over two years, they reveal the residents in their back gardens – spaces invisible from the street, as varied as the house fronts are regular.

Gabriela Schutz is an artist who has exhibited in galleries in London, Israel and Europe and is shortlisted for the 2015 Jerwood Drawing Prize. www.gabrielaschutz.com

Andrew Buurman is a photographer who has exhibited in the UK and the States, won a World Press Award and published in many international newspapers and magazines.  www.buurman.co.uk

The Geffrye explores the home from 1600 to the present day.  Evocative displays of London, middle-class living rooms and gardens illustrate homes and home life through the centuries, reflecting changes in society, behaviour, style and taste.  The museum is set in Grade 1 listed, 18th century almshouse buildings surrounded by gardens in Hoxton, East London.  www.geffrye-museum.org.uk

Hi,

Forgot to mention that it is very easy to get to the museum from Bounds Green/ Bowes park. There are trains every few minutes from Highbury and Islington to Hoxton that take about 10 minutes.

Excellent, Gabriela. I am very much looking forward to seeing this !

Great! Would love to hear whatvyou thought about it.
