Dear Neighbours

We're thinking of getting our front garden/patio repaved and wanted to know if anyone has recently done this themselves, and if they would recommend the company they used?

If so, please let me know the company, as it would be a great starting point to get quotes.

Thanks

Pat

Hello Pat

We are about to have our patio relaid by Mullbery Cottage Gardens of Broxbourne this week. I can let you know how they do after they finish if you like. They gave a reasonable quote.

All the best

Hi Pat

Thank you for your response.  I hope it's going well.  I'll drop you a note next week to ask how it is coming along.

Kind regards

Pat

Hi Pat

Hope the re-laying of the patio went well.  Did it all go ok?  I'll put them on my list of companies to get a quote from if it did.

Thanks

Pat

Hi Pat

My two neighbours used AMC Paving and Building Limited for paving their front gardens in N13. The neighbours chose AMC because they were seen working closeby

CLICK http://www.checkatrade.com/AmcPavingAndBuilding/

It is a family business and they are registered with Marshalls paving contractor suppliers

AMC stands for the Director Anthony Martin Casey.

Be sure to understand the technical specification of what you require.....

If you want a vehicle hard standing, this can be different to just decorative paving.  A paving that looks ok on delivery can be soon be uneven after running a vehicle on it for a short while if used as a hard standing,  AND please invest in providing a sealed surface on completion otherwise you will

  • soon have grass growing between the cracks where the birds drop seeds
  • find that the vehicle has dropped oil on the surface

ADDITIONAL ISSUES to CONSIDER

  • decide whether your paving scheme is designed to be permeable or not (hence the draining provision required)
  • know where your gas pipes, water pipes, electric cables and telephone cables are currently located and facilitate the repair of utilities without having to dig up your paving scheme

Hi Donald.

Thanks for the advice,  Very helpful.  I'll add AMC to the list of people to get quotes from.

It's not a space that any thing special for a car, although as you say, we wouldn't want weeds and grass growing in the cracks. Size wise, it's more like link below, in fact, that picture or something like it, is ideally what we're after, although there's a side alley bit that would need to be done as well.

Thanks for the thoughts, greatly appreciated.

Hello Pat

Mullbery Cottage Gardens did a great job of our patio. They just haven't delivered the soil and gravel they promised yesterday!

Hope your works go well.

Pat
