Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March:

No Piccadilly line service between Hammersmith and Northfields / Uxbridge and a significantly reduced service between Cockfosters and Hammersmith

The District line is also suspended between West Kensington and Richmond/Ealing Broadway.

This is while we replace track between Hammersmith and Turnham Green

Piccadilly line trains to/through central London will depart approximately every six minutes and will be very busy. For the fastest journey change onto alternative Tube routes where possible, especially via the Victoria line at Finsbury Park. For travel to west London use Circle line services from King's Cross St. Pancras towards Hammersmith. Alternatively use National Rail services from New Southgate, Bowes Park and Alexandra Palace.

FOR TRAVEL TO HEATHROW AIRPORT: for the fastest journey use the Central line to Ealing Broadway then take Express replacement bus service B.

Replacement buses services will run:

SERVICE A (FOR LOCAL JOURNEYS) Boston Manor - Northfields - South Ealing - Ealing Broadway (for Central line) - Ealing Common - Acton Town - Gunnersbury - Chiswick High Road (for Chiswick Park station) - Turnham Green - Stamford Brook - Ravenscourt Park – Hammersmith

SERVICE B (FOR TRAVEL TO HEATHROW AIRPORT) Ealing Broadway (for Central line) - Boston Manor [Porters will be available to assist with luggage]

SERVICE C (FOR LOCAL JOURNEYS) Osterley – Hammersmith

SERVICE D Hammersmith - Ravenscourt Park - Stamford Brook - Turnham Green - Chiswick High Road (for Chiswick Park) - Gunnersbury  - some early morning and late evening buses continue to Kew Gardens and Richmond when London Overground is closed

Service E Acton Town - Ealing Common - North Ealing - Hanger Lane (for Central line and Park Royal) - Alperton - Sudbury Town - Sudbury Hill - South Harrow - Rayners Lane. Use the Metropolitan line to/from central London and between Uxbridge and Rayners Lane.

I am being told by Piccadilly Line staff that transfers between Boston Manor and Ealing Broadway are planned to be made by express BUS

Yes, that is correct.

In the article, above the descriptions of the bus services, is the line 'Replacement bus services will run:'

Discussed with Carole Davies of Borough Engagement Team on Thursday 3rd March at the Public Transport Consultation Group at Enfield Civic Centre as to

  • adequacy of luggage/buggy  handling capacity on contracted vehicles, and
  • adequacy of staffing arrangements at Hammersmith terminus

There will be porters at Boston Manor, Osterley, Ealing Broadway and Hammersmith. Their role is to assist customers travelling with luggage to and from trains and onto buses.

Additionally, there will be Customer Information staff positioned between these stations and their associated set-down and pick-up replacement bus stops. Their role is to guide customers along the right route and ensure they get on the bus service best suited to their journey.

As always, these staff will be provided over and above the ususal complement of full time station staff. All of these roles will be in place from start to end of traffic, both days.
