A bicycle was stolen from our garden yesterday in Palmerston Road. It was heavy, old and had no tyres (so not locked) but was hidden from view so whoever took it was already in the garden looking for something else when then saw it and took it.

To haul it away meant moving it over a 6ft fence into someone else's garden (possibly across the allotments) but goes to show that anything is a target. Can only presume it was taken for its scrap value  - surprised they left my watering cans behind!

Oh sorry. Sad to think of something you valued being taken as scrap

I have seen a white van driving up and down the streets regularly in my area of Bounds Green, which is Stanley Road and the environs. I have seen it stop in the middle of the road, a guy gets out, goes into a garden and takes any metal or junk. I challenged him once about this and shall do so again. Next time I will take down the number plate. Sometimes what appears to be junk in our garden is simply not. Any hope of a Derek Jarman inspired garden in Bounds Green is surely thwarted from the start because of this! Sorry for the loss of your old bike.
