Historic Images of Bowes School
To celebrate the centenary of Bowes School 10 years ago an enormous archive of images and documents was collected.
This glorious selection of images can be seen online via the Flickr website set - or view the entire sequence as a slideshow.
This image below shows the schools founding governors - I think they are outside the school on Bowes Road - just in front of the ornate plaque that commemorates the opening in 1902.

I've spent an age looking through these remarkable photos. Who knew that Bowes Road was a bucolic idyll less than a century ago?
