A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Work is underway at Palmers Green Triangle to make improvements to the traffic island in advance of a potentially bigger reconstruction of the junction. Those who fondly remember the old tree will have to wait a little longer until the full scheme is approved.
The work underway is:
Also proposed is a new "landmark clock", paid for from the Enfield Residents' Priority Fund. This scheme was initiated by the Green Lanes Business Association, which also successfully bid for RPF money to improve the planters. FLDRA and other residents at the meeting were keen that there should be public consulation about the design of a prominent clock at such a focal point and that it should not be decided between the Council and Business Association
Documents outlinkig these proposals were circulated at the Bowes Palmers Green and Southgate Area Forum meeting:

Absolutely agree, Tom. Nothing here makes me think this will improve things significantly. Whoever came up with these plans must have had a lobotomy. I saw a property programme earlier this year - Grand Designs or something similar - where a woman converted a central London ex-underground toilets into a house/flat. Not everybody's cup of tea and probably not suitable or viable in this case, but at least it shows some imagination, including on the part of the council who sold or leased her the site.
Tom,
as I understand it there is a small amount of work being done now which is alredy in process - however there aspirations to incorporate other changes in a wider Palmers Green streetscape overhaul there is probably time to comment on these works. This document from LB Enfield spells it out.
However it seems that major works around the old Southgate Town Hall / Library looks like a separate scheme.
