The New Format of Haringey Area Assembly begins this week the old Area Assemblies system is being transformed and replaced with Area Committees – which will work with local people to improve the neighbourhood for the benefit of all residents.

The borough has been divided into seven Area Committees, led by local ward councillors with a number of responsibilities including:

• Developing an Area Committee plan to set out neighbourhood priorities
• Allocating Making the Difference community fund grants to local groups
• Ward councillors working together and discussing with residents over important local issues.

Each meeting will start with an open public forum followed by a decision making session of the committee.

All Area Committee meetings will be public, with dates, times, agendas and reports published on the council website.
